Oldcastle Infrastructure is looking for a Junior Application Developer (JAD) to join our Enterprise Systems Development team. The JAD will work closely with the business and senior development team members to support scalable and sustainable technology solutions within a suite of best-in-class software.

This position requires knowledge of best practices in process methodologies such as Agile & Waterfall, including gathering business requirements and delivering solutions in a timely manner. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, an innate sense of curiosity, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a history of working well with others. Knowledge and direct work in one or more common programming languages required. Success in this role will consist of listening and understanding the requirements of our business stakeholders, delivering technical code based on those requirements, and partnering well with senior developers on the team for more complex work.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with the development team to understand business requirements, then design and develop new features in custom or configured applications.
  • Create documentation and other related knowledge base articles to aid the service desk and operations teams.
  • Work with the infrastructure engineering, information security, and operational teams as needed to ensure a high level of business support and collaboration.
  • Monitor systems for performance issues and operational stability.
  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and fix issues as they arise in the software development process.
  • Contribute to innovative ideas and approaches to enhance our team processes and delivery.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and modern technologies.


Position Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of direct experience in software development in programming languages such as C++, JavaScript, SQL/SSIS, Python, Java, .NET
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and small team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adaptability.
  • Self-driven and comfortable with autonomy
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detailed and purposeful in tasks
  • Proficient in MS Office


Preferred Skills


  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages
  • Basic SQL and database knowledge
  • Proficient with Windows OS


Work and Physical Requirements


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel (overnight) as required based on business needs up to 10%.
  • Ability to drive up to 4 hours for onsite services and meetings.
  • Must pass background check, alcohol, and drug testing.
  • The position may require work outside of normal business hours in response to critical incidents or business-impacting project deliverables.
  • Location for this job is Remote or Oldcastle Infrastructure’s headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
